Herbie, The Love Bug
|
"The Love Bug" (1969) was one of Walt Disney's most successful live action films. It featured a VW Beetle with incredible abilities. Three sequels were made and the car owned by Cars of the Stars featured in all four films.
Herbie VW Beetle
It can be seen in its original Herbie goes Bananas appearance in Keswick and is fitted with many gadgets that bring the car to life, e.g. gears and pedals in the rear of the car, which enabled an unseen driver to make the car appear driverless. It also has doors and boot which open automatically and numerous other modifications.
In the film Herbie Goes Bananas (1980) Herbie is a stowaway on board a luxury liner and on his discovery the ships egocentric and eccentric commander Captain Blythe has Herbie walk-the-plank.
THE CAR
The car featured here in Scotland is of much cleaner appearance and was featured in the film Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (1977).
